Update Mac Os Recovery Partition

Unfortunately updating to 10.12.1 via the mac app store or delta updater will not update the recovery partition. however for many years since 10.7.2 we have been able to update it for every point release using the method i describe below - and 10.12.1 is no exception.. To update the recovery partition version you have to use the full 10.8.3 installer. being new to mac os, i thought that the recovery partition should the same with the os installed. so when i want to recover my mbp, i can recover to the latest os installed on the mbp.. A recovery partition is needed for other aspects of the os such as find my mac. i do have full usb installers too, but that's slow compared to my ssubx ssd and just about any other ssd as well. i do have full usb installers too, but that's slow compared to my ssubx ssd and just about any other ssd as well..

Every time i update the os the recovery partition is left untouched, or at least it appears to be. long time ago, i searched for a solution and found this post which solved this problem. read the first post in this thread, written by 'tywebb13'.. The drive you use must be formatted as a mac os extended (journaled) volume with a guid partition table. to format the drive, go to applications > utilities and open disk utility. select the drive. The recovery partition in mac os x is an important component of a system install in that it allows you to troubleshoot a computer, repair drives, restore from backups, and even reinstall mac os if need be..
